Guilt-Free Protein Ice cream

Ice cream and I, it's a great love story. I could write a post just to talk about how much I love ice cream. When I eat ice cream, I can't settle for a small portion. It has to be a big 500ml tub for complete satisfaction (that's why Ben & Jerry's has secured a permanent place in my heart).

However, eating 500ml tubs of industrial ice cream as often as I used to is not exactly healthy for my body - nor for my fitness goals. So, I found this alternative online (the base recipe comes from the YouTube channel "Tom Newsham Fitness," where they attempted to recreate the protein ice cream of professional bodybuilding coach Greg Doucette). This base can be customized according to your preferences.

Here are the ingredients to make approximately 500ml of ice cream:

  • 150 grams frozen fruit of your choice

  • 150 grams Ice Cubes

  • 45 grams Protein Powder (flavored to match the flavor of your frozen fruits)

  • 1/2 tsp Xanthan Gum

  • 80 ml of Coconut (or Almond) Milk

  • 1 powerful Blender (I recommend min 1200W)

Put all the ingredients in the blender and mix for about 1 minute until the ice cream has a nice creamy texture. Be careful not to forget the xanthan gum, otherwise, it will be a disaster.

Once the desired texture is achieved, you can add pieces of whatever you like: fresh fruits, dark chocolate chips, nuts, etc.

This ice cream is very low in calories but extremely nourishing, packed with protein, and very low in carbohydrates and virtually no fat (depending on the protein powder you use).
