Lentils for picky eaters

Lentils were indeed the dish I detested as a child. And even when I started cooking well, I remained convinced that this thing was repulsive. How wrong I was. Thanks to this recipe I found on the French website papillesetpupilles.fr, I can now say that I love lentils. And even my daughter eats them, so it's a double victory.

It's a bit spicy but I can't get enough of spicy food ! Well, enough chatter, here is the holy grail of lentil recipes:

Ingedients for 4 people: 250 g of lentils

2 carrots

70 g of tomato paste

1 onion

1 garlic clove

2 tablespoons of olive oil

1 tablespoon of ground cumin

1 teaspoon of paprika

1/3 teaspoon of cayenne pepper

1 teaspoon of turmeric

1/3 level teaspoon of cinnamon

A pinch of salt

A pinch of pepper

2 heaped tablespoons of chopped parsley

Preparation:

Peel the onion and carrots, wash them, and cut them into cubes. Peel the garlic clove, remove the germ, and finely chop it. Rinse the lentils and drain them.

Let it cook for 30 to 40 minutes. Add more water towards the end of cooking if necessary (this depends on your lentils, the heat intensity, the size of your dish, etc.). Mix well. Add the carrot cubes and then pour in about 750ml of water.

Let it cook for 30 to 40 minutes (or transfer it to a rice cooker and turn it on). Add more water towards the end of cooking if necessary (this depends on your lentils, the heat intensity, the size of your dish, etc.).

Before serving hot, sprinkle with chopped parsley. Taste and season with a bit of salt and pepper.
